Nabisunsa Girls’ Secondary School was founded in 1954 by Prince Badru Kakungulu, a Buganda royal, to provide post-primary education to Muslim girls. However, today the school admits girls of all faiths year after year.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF ITS HISTORY
Founding and Early Years: The school started as a girls’ boarding school and became a junior secondary school in 1958 with 56 students, including 10 non-Muslim girls. It later turned into a senior secondary school in 1964 and attained ‘A’ level status in 1980.
Leadership
Initially, the school was headed by British expatriate headmistresses until 1969. The current Headteacher is Hajjat Zulaika Nabukeera Kabuye (Mrs), with the three deputies that is Hajjat Mastula Nambajjwe Serugo in-charge of Discipline, Sports & Health, Hajji Badru Kimera in-charge of Academics and Security and Hajjat Aisha Nakibuule in-charge of Welfare and sanitation.

Nabisunsa has a strong sports program, excelling in basketball, lawn tennis, Volley ball and other sports. The school also has a number of clubs like Rotary, Debate, ICT French, Water and environmental groups.
